I joined the company at the time of the e-commerce site self-manufacturing, without previous experiences, and have moved forward together with the department. Compared to when I joined the company, the speed of growth in e-commerce has been remarkable, and the nature of my work has changed and evolved. The most radical change is, as you can guess, the settlement method. I was expecting the acceleration of cashless payment, but the degree was beyond my imagination. The number of types of PAY alone has increased dramatically, and it takes time and money just to introduce a system that can handle each type of PAY, and it is like being involved in a startup all the time, always facing new tasks. Now we can buy things so easily just by using our smartphones, but maybe someday in the future people may no longer use even smartphones. E-commerce is an area where you can only feel such speed of development. I believe that we are undeniably at the cutting edge of technology.
Achieve growth utilizing the environment
I realize that especially when I communicate with the team in the home country. Basically, they focus on data as standards for judgment when constructing a website. They make a hypothesis based on multifaceted elements, seek the best method, and do A/B testing before implementation. There is an exclusive person in charge of marketing, and a system is established so that updated information on trends and the customer journey is shared among all the members of the team. That's how they are constantly improving and upgrading the website. I actively participated in seminars and trainings to further deepen my knowledge, hoping to catch up as much as possible. In fact, there was also a pressing need to study and to keep up with the team. Unless you proactively obtain information and constantly clarify any points that could not be understood, you are instantly left behind. The culture that our e-commerce department has is highly constructive, very flat and respects everyone's opinions, and we tackle any problems as a team. I believe that expressing my opinions and working proactively in such environment made me achieve further growth.
Self growth will build an even stronger brand
I will be transferring to the London office in January 2022. I had planned to relocate to UK for personal reasons, but the company sought to looked for ways to connect me with the company and this transfer was made possible. In my new position, I will start my career as a project management representative for global e-commerce. My job is to manage the progress of projects as determined by each quarter, and draw up plans to efficiently move the project forward and achieve, such as assigning appropriate personnel. Although the details of my work do not largely change, commercial practices, language, currency, and the market share of mobile terminals all differ by countries, so I think I have to study again on a daily basis. As I have been constantly working to make myself grow, I will continue to update myself also in London to transmit the brand even wider throughout the world. Above all, I am proud of being a member of Deckers, the brand I love, wherever I live. Working proactively will definitely make you grow. An environment that makes people grow stronger, that is what Deckers is all about.
My favorite pair of shoes
I think I have already walked and run for more than 100km with these shoes, but the level of fatigue after running is completely different from other shoes. I don't get blisters, and it also feels relaxing to my knees. They are so good that I recommended them to people around me. It seems that people who had never heard of HOKA actually tried them on and realized how good they are. I am proud to say that I contributed to improving the brand recognition!
